Unplugged

I counted up the amount of technology pieces we have in our house and the number shocked me. There were pieces that we haven't used in over a year. It made me start to think about why we have it all and how much time do we spend on it.

The conclusion I came to was we have way too much and spend way too much time on it.

So now I have to decide what to do about it. I am going to start with my phone. I am going to take Pinterest and Facebook off the phone. I am going to limit myself to checking my email twice a day. I am also going to slim down my Instagram and Facebook followings.

I want to make a more intentional effort to be with my kiddos and be present! I think 10 years down the road I will be glad I did!

I know there are things that I can't get rid of because I will go into withdrawl and you may find me in a corner crying and rocking! I love my Instagram!!!!

Be the best you and not an imperfect version of someone else! That is what I want to live by!

Stay on top of things!

Over the past couple of years I have let some things slide that I used to be really good at staying on top of. I am not sure what happened and have become really good at making excuses of why they have fallen off!

As I sit home today because of the bitter cold, I mean real feel -20, I have decided to take control back. No more excuses!! Just Do It!!!!

I have found if I stay on top of laundry, budgeting, and cleaning that I am less stressed and a much nicer person to be around! Today I will be productive!!! I will be creative!!! I will be a great mom!!!

Actions speak louder than words and I need my actions to scream to my family that I put them first and support them in everything they do!!!!

I have had a change in perspective over the last week and am so excited to share with all of you the positive effects of that change! I have prayed that He would change the direction of my life to where He wants me to go and be and I feel that shift happening. I will just keep praying that I follow where He leads me!!!

Bible Study Found

I went on the search last night to find a Bible Study that I wanted to join/do. I didn't really have a topic that I wanted to focus on, which made it even harder to find one. But after a lot of searching I found one from Proverbs 31 Ministries.

The title of the study is Keep It Shut. It is based on the book Keep It Shut by Karen Ehman. I am really excited to get into this study. It doesn't start until the 26th so I still have some time to get the book and get ready!

Now I don't have a huge problem with spouting off in public and regretting it later. But I do tend to do that more at home. I am a little nervous to start this one too because it might just hit too close to home. This is one of my goals for the year, get more into the word!

There is still time to sign up for the study. Just click here and it will take you to the page. I would love to join up with some people to be able to talk about how they are doing with this same study!

Show & Tell - Resolutions and Goals

Today, I am hooking up with Andrea at Momfessionals for her Show & Tell series. I love linking up and being able to find inspiration and new blogs to follow.

I don't have resolutions because to me that is either a make it or break it and I have never done well with resolutions. So I do goals!!!! Here is my list of goals for 2015.

Get Healthier - drink more water and walk 10,000 steps. I wear a fit bit and use it to help count my steps.

Leave school at school - need to do this to make more quality time for my family. This means that I need to focus and stay on top of grading!

Have a special day with each one of my girls and also one with my hubby - We all need this special time!!! We spend time as a family but rarely do I get one on one time with each of them.

Spend more time in the Word - I want to find a good devotion to follow and be able to grow in my faith! Anyone have any suggestions?

Create some family traditions - not sure what I want to do here. I just know that I want things that my kiddos will always associate with our family!

This is the theme that I have chosen for me for the year.  I have it as the background on my phone so every time I do anything on my phone it is there!

Those are the goals that I have. I am going to run an update once a month to track my progress on each goal!

12,000 steps in the right direction

Yesterday I talked about the goals I have for myself and one of those is to walk 10,000 steps at least three times a week.Well, I am one step closer to that goal for the next 7 days. Today I spent the day with my mom and sisters and was able to log over 12,000 steps. Now they weren't overly active steps but they were steps none the less. It felt great to have my fitbit buzz on my wrist letting me know that I was at 10,000 steps!

Creating a Plan - Step One

So . . .

There has been a lot of things rolling through my life and head over the last few months. I have had a lot of change in my life and I realized I don't handle it well. I also have come to the realization that change happens whether you want it or not.

So . . .

I have decided that I need to make the best of the changes I have been dealing with and come up with a plan to deal with the change and make the most out of the blessings I have been given.

A very good friend of mine has been talking me through some of these changes and something she said to me when I was really at a low has really stuck with me. I had told her that I had no idea where to start and she simply told me that I needed to sit down and come up with a simple plan that I knew I could achieve and then keep evaluating that plan.

So . . .

Here is the plan I have come up with:
1. Drink less Diet Coke and more water.
2. Read my Bible every day.
3. Create a budget with my husband each month.
4. Walk 10,000 steps at least 3 times a week.

Now how to accomplish each goal is the next part of the plan. I think I will take it one step and prayer at a time and tackle each one at a time.

All I can do at this point in my journey is put my trust in God and pray and pray some more!!! I have chosen Jeremiah 29:11 as my theme verse for the year of 2015.

It is such a common verse but I know it is what I will focus on throughout the year ahead. Trusting that God's plan will unfold to me as He sees fit to show me! It is a relief to know that I don't have to plan everything because He already has the plan. I am nervous and excited all at the same time for the year ahead!

My Journey to a Better Me - Day One

I woke up this morning early determined to be a better me!! It may seem like a small thought but to me it is overwhelming!!! There are so many thing that I would like to change adjust about myself that in the past I just shut down and kept going the way that I always have. Well, I decided that today that is going to be different, holiday season right around the corner and all.

There are small goals that I have set out for myself this week: only two Diet Coke's a day, devotion time every morning, and a healthy breakfast every morning. Sad to say the last one might be the most difficult because  I love my Little Debbie's in the morning. I might have to have a small farewell ceremony for them, that is how much I love them!! I split my goals into three categories; spiritual, mind, and body. Here is how these three fit.

Spiritual: devotion time every morning to put my day in focus of why I am here and who I have in my corner
Mind: two Diet Cokes a day because I sleep better and have better emotional control when I limit DC
Body: Healthy Breakfast because I want to loose inches

I have decided to put it all out there and hold myself accountable in print where others might see it. This is super scary for me because it means that I will have to be brutally honest about what I really look like and how unhealthy I really am. On the same hand I am super excited to see what can become of me, with the help of God, with these changes!

So here is the starting point for me! You might want to turn away because these numbers and pictures are not pretty.

Starting Point = Scary Point
weight - 283.4
BMI - 48.6
calf - 17 3/4
thigh - 29 3/4
hips - 58 1/2
waist - 51
bust - 54 1/2
arm - 17 1/4
neck - 15 3/4
