Brickyard 400 2008

Here is some video from our weekend! Chris and I went to the Brickyard 400 with my parents. It was great. It was hot but that is all part of the race experience! Chris had a great time and as soon as we got home he was on the web checking the points standings. I thinkhe enjoyed it more than he let anyone know! He even tried to look up how much tickets were for next year. I think we may be returning some time soon! It was a great day. The funny thing is all the pictures I took were of hte cars and of people that I didn't know. There is no actuall proof that Chris and I went. I got caught up in the race and forgot to get a picture of us there! The girls spent the whole day with Aunt Kacee and Travis and they had a blast!!! They both slept until 9 or 9:30 the next morning!!! Make sure you check out the new pictures also. Skylar got a big bike and there are some pictures of her riding it. I am going to try and get some video up of it also!

Wet Weekend

Well after much delay we went camping at Chain O'Lakes State Park. It was great the first night. Saturday it rained for about 2 hours and so we hung out in the tent and the girls watched a movie. After that we tried to take the girls swimming but Skylar wanted nothing to do with the water. It was a lake and she wasn't so sure about it! Lizzy ran around all weekend without shoes and she was so dirty but loving it. Skylar had fun also just playing. It was great to see them play without a tv or anything to help them think! Saturday night brought thunder so we packed what was outside just in case it rained. Good thing because about 5:15 in the morning it stormed and the girls were up. Luckily we were close enought o home that we packed up everything but the tent and came home to sleep. We went back to get the tent and all was ok. This is a typical camping weekend witht he Akey's. We can alsways count on it raining or soemthing strange happening.

Here are the girls watching their movie.

Bathroom renovations are almost over. We are now just waiting on the plumber to come and finish the sink and fix the shower. We are almost there. There are still some finishing touches that we need to do but it is functional!!! It has only taken 2 months for a little bathroom. I would hate to see what would happen if we tried to add on a lot of space!

Busy Week!!!!

It has been an exciting week! Jen, Gage and Ema have been here all wek and we have done a lot of stuff! We started the week with Joe and Tiffany's wedding, Alyson's cousin. Then on Sunday we went to Toledo Zoo. It was great to have the family together at the zoo. We had to battle some rain here and there but we seemed to be lucky that day because everytime we were inside it would rain. We sat down to eat lunch under the pavilion and it poured down rain. The rest of the day was great. The zoo was not busy and that allowed the little ones to look at all the animals better. The sad thing was that the girls were more excited about the bronze statues there than anything else.
On Monday everyone else went to work and the rest of us ran errands. Nothing too exciting. The girls were excited though because they got to watch a movie in the van while we ran around!
Tuesday brought another zoo day. We all met up with Carrie, Justin, Noah, and Shawn. This time we went to the Fort Wayne Zoo! A friend of theirs joined us also. It was a beautiful day. Everyone rode the carousel and the train. We ate lunch in the zoo and the girls got ice cream! They were very excited. After the zoo we went to the park. The adults were trying to wear out the kids. I am not so sure that it worked. Chris finally got to go golfing! Dad, Chris and Gage went and played a round of golf while the girls went shopping!
Wednesday we, the non working people, went to see Horton hears a Who. Teh newspaper said it started at 12:50. We were there early ye we were still late. It actually started at 12:15. So we missed a little bit of it but the girls loved it just the same! After that Lizzy fell asleep and the other two girls went back to Papa's and swam, well sort of, in the little pool. The water was so cold that they just kind of jumped in and then out right away. They enjoyed every minute of it though.
Thursday allowed more people to join the fun. Grandma, Papa, and Kacee joined the fun. Poor Chris had to work though. He has to make the money so we can have another baby! HA HA!!! We took the girls to see wild bison. There is a bison preserve in Freemont that takes you back and you sit in the truck as the bison walk around you and do what they do. Lizzy wanted to jump out and pet them and was trying to call them to come closer. Skylar was fine with staying in the truck and just looking. They are amzing animals! After that just a quiet night at Papa's and Grandma's. Ok so as quiet as it gets with two 2 year olds and a 5 year old!
Fourth of July was spent at the Huntington Air Show. It was absolutely beautiful! Everyone got to go to this. After we got home we had hot dogs and chips and hte girls napped and then played. We then stood out on my parents back porch and watched the Garrett fireworks and all the other people who spent their money on fireworks! It was great because we didn't have to drive anywhere and mess with traffic. It was a good end to the week!
Jen, Gage and Ema left early saturday morning and the my family just relaxed at our house. Chris on the ther hand has been busy painting the bathroom, hanging to mirror and lights, and laying the hardwood floor! We are getting so close to being back to two working bathrooms! We are hoping to got to fireworks tonight and resting tomorrow!! Hope everyone and a great and relaxing three day holiday weekend!!!! Keep in touch!
